How to create images that work for your business
You know the phrase, “a picture speaks a thousand words”? That feels especially true when it comes to website photography.

When I plan a Surrey website photography session for one of my clients, I’m thinking about much more than creating beautiful images. The aim is to build a thoughtful collection of photographs that can be used across a website and wider marketing, and that gently communicate what the business is about.
In reality, most people don’t read every word on a website. They skim, they scroll and they take in the feeling of a page before they take in the detail.
Your images play a big part in shaping that feeling.

Showing what it’s like to work with you
One of the most helpful things you can include in your website photography is an idea of what it actually feels like to work with you.
Using models as clients can work beautifully here. It allows you to show natural, relaxed interactions that give prospective clients a clearer picture of the experience you offer.
Emma from Lemonade Architects in Surrey, whose session is featured here, has built her business on being approachable and supportive. She guides her clients carefully through each stage of their project, and it was important that this came across visually.
By including someone acting as a client during the session, we were able to create images that actually show how she works, rather than simply describing it.

Use props to help tell your story
The details you include in your images can say a great deal about your brand.
For this Surrey website photography session, we thought carefully about the setting and the props. Lemonade Architects is not just offering plans or drawings, but a change in how people live in their homes.
Images of coffee and pastries on the kitchen island help to suggest that lifestyle. They allow potential clients to imagine themselves there, without needing it to be spelled out.

Include small pieces of real life
Some of my favourite images from this session are the ones that include Emma’s children.
As a busy mum running a business alongside family life, she understands the needs of other families she works with. Including her children in the session added a layer of honesty and relatability to her brand.
These moments don’t need to feel staged or perfect. In fact, it’s often the opposite. Small, real interactions tend to feel the most meaningful.

Planning your own website photography in Surrey
If you are thinking about updating your website, it’s worth taking time to consider how your images can support what you want to say.
A well-planned website photography session in Surrey can give you a set of images that not only look beautiful, but also help people understand your business more quickly and more clearly.
If you’d like to talk about planning a relaxed, natural session for your own business, I’d love to hear from you.
