My mini personal branding sessions are often chosen by women who want updated images for their business, but who don’t necessarily want a long or complicated photoshoot. Jules’ session is a really good example of how these shorter shoots can still feel relaxed, personal and very true to who someone is.
Jules, known online as Jules in the Know, shares thoughtful and honest recommendations for family life, days out and local businesses across Surrey. Her work is warm, approachable and rooted in everyday moments, which made it important that her branding photographs reflected that same feeling.

A relaxed approach from the start
Before the session, we spent time chatting through wardrobe choices and how the images would be used. This part is always important to me, especially for mini personal branding sessions, as it helps everything feel considered without being overthought. Jules wanted something that felt natural and comfortable, rather than overly styled, so we kept things simple and true to her.
Like many of the women I photograph, Jules arrived feeling a little bit apprehensive about being in front of the camera. That’s something I hear often, and it’s completely normal! I feel exactly the same myself when I’m having my own photo taken. One of the reasons mini personal branding sessions work so well is that they’re just 20 minutes long. Knowing there’s a clear start and finish can make the whole experience feel really manageable.
Once we got going, the session settled into a calm rhythm. We had time to chat, to pause, and to just let moments the unfold naturally. The images reflect that ease, from relaxed portraits to quieter, more thoughtful frames that show Jules as she really is.

Images that reflect how you work
What I’m always looking for during branding sessions is how someone works, not just what they do. With Jules, that meant capturing warmth, openness and a sense of connection. These are the qualities her audience responds to, and they come through most clearly when someone feels really comfortable and at ease.
The photographs from this session are now being used across Jules’ social media platforms, helping her show up consistently online while still feeling like herself. That balance is at the heart of my approach to branding photography.
