At home… no posing… surrounded by family. I’m Helen, a Surrey newborn photographer. I love to photograph new arrivals just as they are. From brand-new newborns to older babies, let me capture those early days in the comfort of your own home.

Firstly, if you’ve just found out you’re expecting, congratulations! This time of your life is so special, with so much to think about! You’re planning the nursery, working out which baby items you actually need, trying to fill your freezer with food, writing your birthing plan.

At the same time you’re trying to picture this little person who is going to transform your lives! Those early days of a new baby can pass in a whirl. In amongst the changes, feeds and naps, you want to look back and remember the little details… the way your baby grips your finger… just how tiny their little feet are… how small they look in their crib.

When my children were born, I didn’t know there was such a thing as lifestyle newborn photography. I knew I didn’t want pictures of them wrapped up in a basket but I had no idea there was another option. As a Surrey newborn photographer, I love that I’m able to give my clients stunning, natural images in their baby’s first home that truly capture them as a family.

Whether you live in Surrey or further afield, capturing these moments at home means you have everything there that you need. Your baby can feed or nap whenever they want to and older siblings and pets can be involved too. As well as those gorgeous baby details, I love to capture the connection between you all as your family grows.

From the moment you first get in contact with me, to when I deliver your chosen photographs and products, I will guide you through every aspect of your newborn photography experience. I want the whole experience to be as enjoyable, relaxing and memorable for you all as possible. I will be on hand to answer any questions you may have and offer support whenever you need it.

Session Fee

The cost of my photography sessions is £125 on weekdays and £155 at the weekend and during school holidays.

Below is a guide as to what is included in your session fee:

Initial consultation, either by phone or email, to discuss your hopes for your session.
Preparation guide including helpful tips and advice on what to wear.
Pre-shoot questionnaire to help me get to know your family a little before our session.
Relaxed newborn photography session for your immediate family, lasting approximately an hour and a half, at your home in Surrey or beyond.An extra fee applies for locations more than 45 minutes drive from Walton-on-Thames.
Time spent selecting and editing the most beautiful images from your session.
Private online viewing gallery of at least 35 images, available to view before selecting your choices.

Digital Photographs

Digital files, prints and other beautiful products can then be purchased after viewing your gallery.

YOUR QUESTIONS

When should I book my newborn photography session?

Contact me anytime from your 20 week scan. I’ll reserve a space in my diary and ask you to contact me when your baby arrives. We’ll then confirm a date during your baby’s first two weeks at home. By booking in before your little one arrives, you’ll know you’ll be able to capture those little details in the hazy newborn days.

What age is best for my baby to be at the session?

If you’ve booked your newborn photography session before your little one arrives, we’ll aim to arrange your session for between 5 and 14 days old. This way they’re still usually super sleepy. My baby photography sessions don’t need to be in those first few weeks though. As my style is natural and unposed, these sessions work well for older babies too.

What should we wear?

This is the question I’m asked most often and don’t worry! I’m here to help. Light, neutral colours look gorgeous for at home newborn sessions. Once you’ve booked in, I’ll send you a preparation guide filled with helpful tips, as well as lots of ideas to help you choose your outfits. I’m also on hand before your session if you want to run any ideas past me.

My house doesn’t look like a show home. Will we still get beautiful photos?

I photograph in so many different homes. You absolutely don’t need enormous rooms and a perfectly styled nursery to capture gorgeous images. If you have windows, it’s perfect for me! This is your baby’s first home and that is so special.

What if my baby cries or needs feeding during the session?

We can stop at any point for breaks, feeds and nappy changes. There is no rush. This is your time with the new little person in your life and you must take all the time you need. I will never schedule another session after yours. I don’t want you to feel any pressure if things take a little longer.

How long will the session be?

I’m normally with newborn families for around an hour and a half. This really depends on you and your baby though. If your little one is very sleepy, we may finish a little before this. If feeding breaks take a little longer, that’s absolutely fine. I will never rush you or your baby.

Do you travel to homes outside of Surrey?

Yes! I’m a Surrey newborn photographer but I’m happy travel to you if you live somewhere else. I do charge a travel fee if we’re over 45 minutes from each other but get in touch using the contact form below and we can chat!
