Last week, I spent a morning photographing Elise from Casa Beauty in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey. Elise is an experienced beauty therapist who has recently set up her own business in a gorgeous, welcoming room at the end of her garden. She was looking for natural, relaxed photos to use on her Instagram feed, as well as for her website.
Before the Session
Before Elise’s session, I sent her a questionnaire to find out about her brand and business. I asked about her brand colours, which words she ‘d love her customers to use if they were describing her business, and how she was hoping to use her images.
As well as this, I sent Elise a preparation guide filled with helpful tips as well as ideas for planning outfits that would be perfect for her images!
We then arranged a planning call where we chatted over the phone about outfits, shot ideas and everything in between!
During the Session
Elise has a gorgeous navy velvet chair in her beauty room, as well as quite a few navy blue and blush pink accessories. We decided to use these colours through the shoot, including picking out navy blue and pale pink nail varnish for some of the prop shots. It gave the images a lovely consistent feel that will work really well on her website, as well as on social media!
We took some natural headshots, as well as detail shots and photographs of Elise at work, interacting with clients in the way she normally would. Elise had asked someone she knows well to pop along for a few of the photos, which worked brilliantly.
We also took a few photos of Elise ‘behind the scenes’, reading a magazine and messaging clients on her phone. These photos will be so useful on social media to help her tell a story about her day!
