    Ever wondered how outdoor photographers make sure Ever wondered how outdoor photographers make sure they’re working with the best light? Time of day, angles and location all play a huge part. A few more images from this gorgeous family photography session in Wimbledon. We met at 8am in Wimbledon Common. This gorgeous little man had started waking up earlier in the morning, so my usual 9am start time was going to be exactly when he was starting to get sleepy. 8am also had the advantage of the most beautiful light! I was super excited to have a family willing to meet me so early! In the summer, the light is just so harsh later in the day. The sooner after sunrise it is, the more flattering the morning light. We found a gorgeous area of the Common with beautiful long summer grass which allowed the light to bounce off it beautifully, making it even softer. I then used the trees to filter the sun from behind them, giving that gorgeous glow without losing them to haze. Making sure they were facing open blue sky helped to gently light up their faces. And there you go! Just a few of the ingredients for beautiful family photos! (The loveliest parents, the cutest little boy and a gorgeous dog helped too of course!😍) So what do you think? Could you cope with an 8am photo session? I know I’d struggle to get my two out that early! If you have early risers though, it might be perfect! ☀️

This lovely family had been gifted a session with me as a Christmas present. They hadn’t had a family photography session before and were a little worried they’d feel awkward in front of the camera. We started the session with a couple of walking shots. I find this is a great way to help everyone relax! I give the rule that no one is allowed to look at me, instead they should look at each other! It takes the pressure off that feeling of having to look at the camera with a perfectly natural smile. I’ve delivered their final gallery to them today and they absolutely love their images, which makes me so happy! 🥰
